Where exactly do the activities take place in Colombia?
Our primary Colombian travel itineraries focus on the pristine coastal village of Rincón del Mar, a hidden Caribbean paradise famous for its calm waters, white sandy beaches, mangrove channels, and boat excursions to the San Bernardo Archipelago.
When is the best time to visit and dive in Rincón del Mar?
Colombia enjoys a tropical climate with warm weather year-round. The best and driest time to visit the Caribbean coast is from December to April. Water temperatures in Rincón del Mar are exceptionally comfortable, averaging between 27°C and 29°C (80°F - 84°F).
How do I get to Rincón del Mar and which airport should I use?
The most common route is flying into Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) in Cartagena. From Cartagena, it takes about 2.5 to 3 hours by car or private transfer to reach Rincón del Mar. Corozal Airport (CZU) is closer but handles mainly domestic flights. We can arrange reliable private transfers for your journey.
What currency is used and is credit card widely accepted?
The official currency is the Colombian Peso (COP). While major credit cards are accepted in big cities and large hotels, Rincón del Mar is a small, traditional village with no ATMs. It is absolutely essential to carry enough cash in Colombian Pesos for local restaurants, small shops, and tips.
Do I need any specific vaccines or health precautions to visit?
No special vaccines are strictly mandatory for the urban and coastal tourist areas of Rincón del Mar, but the Yellow Fever vaccine is highly recommended if you plan to extend your travel to Colombia's national parks or jungle areas. Always drink bottled or purified water during your stay.
